- The Sauk Trails Madison Optimist Club sponsors the Spartan Youth Service Team - SYSJT JOI Team. JOI members work together to have fun, identify and accomplish community projects, and more. JOI is about our youth participating in a common cause, whether it's learning to help build the pages of a web site, or helping in many community activities, the ideas and opportunities are unlimited!
Internationally, the Optimist organization has created a JOI organization charter - specifically for teenagers in middle school, high school, and college to team up and participate as a Junior Optimist club. JOI members in area clubs have traveled to various cities to help the victims of disaster - and regularly participate in many related causes. Here's an opportunity for the youth of our community to take up our challenge and see the power that comes from students working together for a common cause.

The Club benefits from the insurance, having an advisor not from the school (there are 2 internal advisors as well), and some accounting access (though the school wants us to transition to having all of the money at the school only. We'd be happy at looking at some co-projects such as the Lussier Christmas party for which we are providing 10 volunteers + balloon animal makers. Last year our President was part of the District governance, but there really isn't much interest in becoming more involved in that as they prefer doing projects and really don't want to go to meetings not at the school.
